Olguin is for you if you...

Aren’t used to being photographed

“We’re not used to being photographed” is what 98% of Alex’s couples tell him. He guides when needed, then gives you space to be fully in it.

Want more than candid

Candid photos are a given nowadays; every photographer promises them. But candid doesn’t mean compelling.

Would rather skip the repetitive poses

Freedom in how you move and express yourself, and the sense that something real is happening.

Want to be present, not performing

Alex photographs weddings with a mindset of presence, not performance. You’ll probably forget you’re even “doing photos”.

Presence over perfection

Hi, I’m Alex. For over 10 years I’ve photographed weddings with a mindset of presence, not performance. As of the end of 2025, I have shot 547 weddings, to be exact.

I don’t photograph weddings like a checklist. I photograph them like a story unfolding in real time: the nervous hand squeeze during vows, that sideways glance at your dad during speeches, your grandmother pretending not to cry (but definitely crying).

I guide when needed, then give you space to be fully in it, so the images don’t just look good; they hold weight. Portraits are calmer than people expect.

Cass, my wife of 17 years, isn’t out shooting weddings with me, but she’s the steady hand behind the scenes. Pick a time below and tell me about your day.

Questions

In case you’re wondering

For 2026 and 2027 weddings: six hours $5,200, eight hours $5,800, ten hours $8,000, GST included. 2028 dates have their own price list, which Alex sends with your availability.
All three include signature-style edited images, high-resolution files, a secure online gallery and a 14 day turn-around. Eight and ten hours add sneak peek photos, a highlight slideshow and the comprehensive wedding guide. Ten hours also adds matte art prints and an $1,800 album credit.
Not in the Southern Highlands, the South Coast or Sydney metro. The Northern Beaches, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Hunter Valley, Newcastle and the far South Coast (south of Kioloa) are $500. Interstate is $1,200.
Yes, at any stage after booking: extra hours at $450 each, a fine art album at $1,800 (8 x 10.6 inches, 20 spreads), an engagement shoot at $1,400 (one hour, photos within 3 business days), or a second photographer at $200 an hour, four hours minimum.
We are all more beautiful when we laugh, when we cry, and when we don’t pretend to be someone we’re not. Alex directs certain parts of the day where it’s needed, but directing is not forcing you into poses where you feel uncomfortable. For the most part, you won’t even notice him.
No. Alex refers videographers he has worked well with, whose work complements his and who record the day without getting in the way.
No. The way Alex colours his images is part of the magic: think of RAWs as the uncut footage, and what you receive as the story, told with intention and care.
Not a problem. Some of Alex’s favourite images were made in the rain. If it’s forecast, grab some clear or white umbrellas; they work best for photos.
Alex replaces himself with a photographer of a similar skill set, and edits all the images himself.
Mainly the Southern Highlands, the South Coast and Sydney, and Alex is always happy to travel, depending on the time of year and availability.
Yes. Public liability documents are available for you or your venue on request.
